Hike 2 Ride is an upcoming film (foreign) about what it takes to hike up a mountain and ride down on a snowboard / skis. It’s about the passion, the challenge … and the danger.
Mt Rainier Backcountry Snowboarding
Can’t wait until winter for break out the snowboard? This crew hiked up Mt. Rainier on splitboards to get in a few runs during the early season.
My New Golite Post Canyon Jacket
I just received a new Golite Post Canyone Jacket in the mail today! I know it’s still like 95 degrees outside, but the price was right and I had the perfect opportunity to grab one. This is now my third piece of Golite merch (I also have the pack and a performance tee).
I picked up the new jacket on AppOutdoors.com for $59 – it’s normally $100, and is still marked at $100 on Golite’s website. I couldn’t believe what a great price it was. It was my first time ordering at App Outdoors but everything went smooth. Placed my order on 8/21 and got it today on 8/25. I picked the UPS Ground option which is $6.95 – it’s a tad more than I’d like to pay for ground shipping, but it is flat-rate so I could have spent $500 and still only paid $6.95. And it didn’t take that long to get to my house in Florida from their store in Pennsylvania.
Can’t wait for the weather to change so I can wear this jacket on the trail. It’s lightweight, made from recycled polyester and has a nice lining to keep you warm.

Royal Gorge Kayaking
The Royal Gorge of the North Fork of The American River hosts some of California’s most beautiful and committing waterfalls. Take a look as a group of paddlers set out to conquer those waterfalls. Great footage from some great kayakers.
MTB Over the Handle Bars
Casey Riva captures a guy go over his handle bars on a mountain bike outside of Telluride, Colorado. You gotta be careful out there!
Finisterre Clothing
Disclaimer: I have to put this disclaimer up here because of FCC rules. This shirt was provided to me for free for the purpose of reviewing it on my site. This post is my honest opinion of the product.
Live in the United States? I bet you haven’t heard of Finisterre – an award winning, ethical outdoor clothing brand. That’s because they’re based in the UK. I was contacted by a rep of the company and asked to do a review – I was excited when they sent me a thermal base layer in the mail shortly after.
Now, it’s not cold right now so it’s hard for me to give this shirt a true test. But as soon as I put it on I immediately felt how comfortable it was to wear. The fabric is made of merino wool so you know it’s good. I wear a large and it fit nicely on my body – it wasn’t long in the arms or loose around the bottom. It fit snug, but not tight – exactly what a base layer should do to keep you warm.
Here are the exact specs:
FEATURES
100% Superfine Merino wool
190gms durable construction
Aso-free dyes
Responsibly Sourced
Full traceability
Knitted and manufactured in Portugal
This is a link the the shirt I got: The Eddy
I highly recommend picking one up for yourself.
These are some of my pictures of the thermal base layer – please forgive me, I am not a pro. The bad lighting and blurry lens do these shirts no justice.

Splitboarding Mt. Tallac in Lake Tahoe
Definitely jealous of the folks living in places that still have snow – like Lake Tahoe. This is a video of Chuck Casella splitboarding Mt. Tallac. You can see on his hike up there isn’t much snow on the ground, but boy on the way down it looks packed!
Great Sand Dunes National Park
When you think of Colorado, you think of snow capped Rocky Mountains. You think of backcountry skiing and rock climbing. If you showed the average person a picture or video from Great Sand Dunes National Park you would never think it’s in Colorado.
I’ve never been but it looks really cool.
